What does blown-in insulation do for a Wildomar attic?
Blown-in insulation is loose fill, cellulose or fiberglass blown through a hose across your attic floor and over whatever is already up there, so heat and noise have a harder time getting through the ceiling into your house in Wildomar.
Most people call because the rooms upstairs run hot, the room over the garage never feels right or the power bill keeps creeping up, and when I get up there I usually find a few inches of old, flattened insulation and gaps nobody sealed. The price moves with how big the attic is, how much is already up there, whether old material has to come out and which fill you pick, and the schedule mostly turns on what has to be fixed first and whether your address has a permit step. I sort out both when I look at your attic, and the attic air sealing that goes in before the fill is part of that plan.
How do you know your attic needs more insulation?
Upstairs rooms run hot
The bedrooms upstairs or the room over the garage stay warmer than the rest of the house, and the AC never quite catches up. That usually means the attic layer is thin or full of gaps, and the longer it waits, the more you pay to cool rooms that won't stay cool.
Ceiling framing shows through
If you pop the hatch and can see the tops of the ceiling framing, there aren't many inches left up there. Old insulation flattens over the years, and every season you wait, more heat comes straight through the ceiling.
Damp spots or droppings
Wet patches, stains or rodent droppings in the insulation mean something else needs fixing first, usually a roof leak or a way in for pests. Blowing fresh fill over that only hides it, and the damage keeps going underneath.
How we install blown-in insulation in your attic
I start by getting into your attic and telling you what's there, because I won't blow new fill over insulation that's wet, moldy or full of droppings, or over a roof leak or a bad wire. Once those are handled, our crew does the air sealing, closing the gaps around can lights, pipes, wires and the hatch, so the new layer isn't fighting a draft. We keep the eave vents clear so the attic can still breathe, then blow the fill across the whole floor, full depth out at the edges where it's easy to go thin, and clean up around the hatch before we walk it with you. Most of the choice is cellulose or fiberglass, and I'll explain how each one holds up in your attic over the years.
When what's up there has to go, insulation removal comes first, and that's the step I'll push for if the old layer is soaked or full of droppings. If the floors are cold and the walls feel drafty too, we can plan it as a home insulation job instead of one attic at a time. Spray foam costs more and seals air while it insulates, but sealing the gaps and topping up with loose fill usually wins unless your ductwork runs through the attic.
Blown-in cellulose
Cellulose is made from recycled newspaper and boxes and slows air moving through it better than fiberglass, so it suits a dry attic over a standard ceiling where you want the gaps filled tight. It settles more over the years, which I'll factor in when we talk about depth.
Blown-in fiberglass
Fiberglass is lighter and costs more, and on a mobile home ceiling or an attic that's taken water it's usually the safer pick. It's the one I lean toward when I'm not sure the roof has stayed dry.

What happens after you call about blown-in insulation in Wildomar?
Here's how a job runs from your first call to the walk-through, including the city's work hours where they come into play.
Call or send the form
We set up a time for me to come look at the attic. Have your home's age handy and tell us about any damp spots or can lights you've noticed, because those change what I look for.
I look at the attic
I check the depth, the vents, the wiring and the roof deck, and before I leave I tell you what I'd do, what has to be fixed first and what I'd skip. That's when I also walk you through what moves your price, like how much has to come out and which fill fits.
We seal, then blow in
Once you say go, we take care of the permit step if there is one, seal the gaps, then blow in the fill. Wildomar allows construction Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with no work on Sundays or holidays the city observes, so we book install days inside those hours.
Walk the finished attic together
When we're done, we walk the finished space with you so you can see the depth at the edges and the clear vents yourself. Bring any questions about the work to that walk.
Why Wildomar homeowners call us for blown-in insulation
The owner looks at your attic
I come out to look at every job and plan it, and the small crew that does the install is one I work alongside. You hear what's really up there from the person responsible for the work, before anyone talks about selling you anything.
Based in Wildomar since 2013
I grew up following my dad through attics and crawl spaces, and I started this business here in 2013. That's 13 years of finding the leaks, the bad wiring and the chewed-up insulation before they get buried.
Licensed and insured in California
We're licensed and insured. California has a license class just for contractors who install insulation for heat or sound control, so it's fair to ask anyone climbing into your attic which license they carry.
Call (951) 417-1017 or send us a note, and I'll come see what's in your attic before we talk about what to put there.
Blown-in insulation, permits and older attics in Wildomar
In Wildomar, the City of Wildomar Building and Safety Department issues construction permits for projects that meet code, and its plan review checks energy efficiency. Its permit list names building, electrical, plumbing and mechanical work but not insulation, so that list alone doesn't settle whether your attic job needs one, and that office is the place to ask. We check the permit step with the building office for your address, whether that's the city or the county, and when one is needed we file it and keep you posted.
Around here we see a lot of attics with a few tired inches, thin at the edges and sometimes torn up by rodents, plus mobile home ceilings where weight decides the fill. We see the same thing on jobs in Murrieta and Lake Elsinore, and we handle it the same way, clearing out what's bad before we add anything.
Questions about blown-in insulation in Wildomar
How do I choose between cellulose and fiberglass blown-in insulation?
Fiberglass is usually the better pick for a mobile home or an attic that's ever taken water, and cellulose for a dry attic over a standard ceiling. Cellulose breaks down when it's saturated and is too heavy for mobile home ceilings, while fiberglass isn't ruined by a soaking. Over the years loose cellulose settles about 10 to 20 percent and loose fiberglass about 2 to 4 percent, so a cellulose attic ends up sitting lower.
How much does blown-in insulation cost in Wildomar?
Attic insulation in the Riverside-San Bernardino area usually costs about $1,500 to $5,000 per job. That's the usual range for the whole attic job in the area, not our price, and where yours lands depends on the size, what has to come out and which fill you choose. Your own number comes from the estimate visit.
What needs to be fixed in the attic before blown-in insulation goes in?
Mold or rot, any vent that blows moist air into the attic, like a bath fan, and old knob and tube wiring should all be fixed before new insulation goes in. Knob and tube wiring was used before 1930 and can be a fire hazard where insulation touches it, so a house that old needs that repair first. If I find any of these, I'll tell you plainly and we'll hold off on the insulation until it's done.
Does new insulation in my Wildomar attic have to meet California code?
Yes, California requires the total insulation in an existing attic of a low-rise home, old and new together, to meet the state's level for single-family homes. The contractor who installs it has to certify that to you in writing, so ask for that statement when the job is done. I'll go over the level for your attic at the estimate visit.
How do I keep blown-in insulation away from recessed lights?
The usual advice is to keep loose fill off recessed lights and soffit vents and leave a gap around any can light that isn't rated IC for insulated ceilings. With loose fill that means a sheet metal or wire mesh barrier around those spots. Ask any contractor how they'll guard them before they start, and I'll point them out when I look at your attic.
Do I have to leave the house while blown-in insulation goes in?
Usually not, because blown-in work stays up in the attic and there's nothing curing that you have to wait out. Kids and pets just need to stay clear of the hatch and the hose while we work, and we clean up the dust around the hatch before we leave.
